Pickit cameras

Pickit is compatible with a number of 3D cameras, each of which makes a different compromise between technical merits and price. All cameras use Ethernet as communication technology, and both standard and high-definition camera lineups cover fields of view spanning from small boxes all the way up to four Euro Pallets (EPAL). Below you can find a high-level overview of the different cameras, that can help in making an assessment of which camera works best for your application.

Tip

We can assist you in selecting which camera works best for your application. To learn more, contact sales@pickit3d.com.

You can download the data sheet of a camera by clicking its name in the tables below. CAD files of all cameras are available in the CAD resources page, and camera cable specifications are documented in this article.

Pickit standard-definition (SD2) camera

Note

SD2 cameras require the Pickit SD camera license module for software support.

The standard-definition (data sheet) camera offers a great value-price combination. It is a highly versatile camera, its field of view allow operation in both bin picking (shorter distance) and depalletizing (longer distance) applications.

The camera uses an Ethernet cable, for more information on how to connect the components see this article.

SD2 camera field of view, front and side views: about 850 x 710 mm at 800 mm distance and 2127 x 1781 mm at 2000 mm, fitting two 800 x 1200 mm Euro pallets at the far end SD2 camera mounted on a robot wrist above a gripper, with the angled M12 connector of the extension cable plugged into the camera

Pickit high-definition (HD2) cameras

Note

HD2 cameras require the Pickit HD camera license module for software support.

High-definition (HD2) cameras are recommended for applications where the Pickit standard-definition camera does not provide sufficient accuracy.

Pickit offers a complete portfolio of HD cameras using structured light and laser triangulation technology.

Structured light technology

Our structured light camera lineup consists of three cameras:

Pickit HD2 structured light camera
  • The M-HD2-MR60 (data sheet) offers a narrow field of view, making it ideal for high-precision applications, whether mounted on a robot or fixed in place.

  • The L-HD2-LR110 (data sheet) features a wide field of view and close-focus capability, making it especially suitable for scanning large areas while mounted on a robot.

  • The L-HD2-MR130 (data sheet) provides the longest field of view, up to 2.7 meters, making it perfect for fixed applications over a large area, such as a Euro pallet.

Below is an overview of the fields of view of each structured light camera. You can explore them in more detail in the datasheet of each camera, or using our interactive camera selector.

Fields of view of the structured light cameras M-HD2-MR60, L-HD2-LR110 and L-HD2-MR130 in front and side views, from 0 to 3000 mm distance; the L-HD2-MR130 covers 1640 x 1360 mm at the far end, compared with a Euro pallet (1200 x 800 mm) and a quarter pallet (600 x 400 mm)

Laser triangulation technology

Our laser triangulation camera lineup consists of many cameras covering an extensive range of field of views keeping an excellent accuracy:

  • The XS-HD2-C100 (data sheet) offers the highest accuracy and the smallest field of view, making it ideal for guidance and inspection applications.

Pickit XS-HD2-C100 laser triangulation camera, a compact green-topped box with three front apertures and connectors on the side
  • The S-HD2-C300 (data sheet) offers high accuracy and is ideal for small part bin picking or guidance/inspection tasks.

Pickit S-HD2-C300 laser triangulation camera, a green-topped box with a laser warning label on the front
  • The M-HD2-C600 (data sheet) and M-HD2-C610 (data sheet) share the same field of view but differ in camera form factor. The M-HD2-C600, with its larger baseline and higher accuracy, is best suited for fixed-mount applications. On the other side, the M-HD2-C610’s smaller and lighter design makes it well-suited for mounting on robots.

Pickit M-HD2-C600 and M-HD2-C610 laser triangulation cameras side by side; the C600 is longer, the C610 is smaller and lighter
  • The L-HD2-C1200 (data sheet) is a large field of view camera that can fit more than two Euro-pallets.

Pickit L-HD2-C1200 laser triangulation camera, a long green-topped bar with a laser warning label on the front
  • The XL-HD2-C1600 (data sheet) offers the biggest field of view among the Pickit cameras, it can detect up to a distance of 5m and fit more than four Euro-pallets.

Active stereo technology

Our active stereo camera lineup consists of two cameras sharing the same compact, lightweight form factor:

Pickit active stereo camera mounted on a robot wrist, with its green Ethernet cable and HARTING PushPull connector plugged into the side
  • The M-HD2-N36 (data sheet) offers a narrow field of view and high accuracy at close working distances, well suited for both robot-mounted and fixed applications such as bin picking and part guidance.

  • The L-HD2-N36 (data sheet) shares the same form factor as the M-HD2-N36 but with a longer working distance, up to 2 meters, extending its field of view to applications spanning a Euro pallet.

Below is an overview of the fields of view of each active stereo camera. You can explore them in more detail in the datasheet of each camera, or using our interactive camera selector.
